What pencils do cartoonists use to draw?

I’m practicing animation type drawings such as Preston Blair/John K/etc. and doing so with a regular #2 pencil. I’ve noticed that in their drawings, they use a more darker type pencil, or sometimes a blue type pencil to use to draw. What type of pencil are they?

There is no standard, as artists tend to use the tools with which they are most comfortable.

Those “blue” pencils are probably what is called “non-photo” blue, because, when drawings are later inked, the blue pencil line won’t show up in the reproductions, whether for camera, or scanning. It saves the artist the trouble of having to erase the pencil lines.
